Blogsite Change

For those of you who've seen this Blog in the past are probably asking "what am I missing here?"  Well, the thing is, I began this Blog to document my family's journey, and that journey overtook me to the point where I lost track of the Blog.  I just didn't have time between work, family, school, and all of the changes that we've made to keep up.  Since beginning this Blog, Elaine, the kids, and I have changed our lives.  We've begun the slow, agonizing transition to moving completely off of the industrial food system.  I've researched the Natural Foods movement extensively, reading everything I can get my hands on.  But the biggest, and most prominent change we've made was the purchase of our farm.  On April 19, 2012, we became the proud owners of what is now the Lavasseur Family Farm.  It is a two acre piece of heaven to us.  A big beautiful farmhouse for our family to love and grow up in, an 1800 square foot workshop for me to utilize for storage and my projects, a huge 1900's barn for anything our minds can imagine.  But most important to both of us, we've gotten the kids into the Schuylerville Central School district, the best in this area.  And the place is close to Saratoga Springs!  Just 8 miles from the mall and commercial area.  We couldn't be happier with our purchase, and our new journey.

So, that's why the Blogsite changed.  Clearly our mission changed.  We still have the mission from before, the mission of Fixing Food, which is why I changed the Blogsite vice making a new one, but the mission has undergone a huge expansion.  I don't believe it is necessary for an individual that wants to retreat from industrial food to buy a farm, but it's a much more sustainable method, and it's the right move for us.  So our new mission: Create as much distance as possible between this family and the industrial food system by producing as much food as possible right here on our farm, honestly, sustainably, and with the utmost food integrity.  Follow us on this Blog to see how we manage this goal, and the hurdles we face.  Thanks for reading.
